The Lotion Boxes: Why We Need Them and How to Make You First One?

The lotions are cosmetic products and since the products are mostly based of artificial ingredients and ingredients of a perishable nature, the protection can only be provided by the custom made lotion boxes.

Lotion boxes can be either acquired from the packaging company and with customizations made to them or you can get them from the wholesale market. The readily available lotion boxes are not as good as custom lotion boxes, but they still do the job at a certain level.

However:

The lotion boxes acquired from the packaging companies or from the wholesale market can be expensive and a new lotion business at its early stage can definitely save a few bucks at each boxes.

In this blog post we are going to cover the reasons why you need lotion boxes if you are into a lotion business and as to how to make them at home or workplace.

1.  Reasons Why You Need Lotion Boxes

Whether you are a lotion company or makeup/lotion subscription company, you can always send your products to your customers in simple plastic or paper bag packaging. Then why do you need lotion bar boxes? Well here are the reasons why:

  • Protection – Protection is the first and foremost concern and reason why you need high quality lotion packaging. The natural stimuli such as temperature (hot, humid, and cold) can impact the quality of your precious product, decrease its shelf life and render it useless. The protective packaging of lotion boxes works as a buffer zone between the outside stimuli and your product. Also, you can customize your product’s packaging to make it water proof.
  • Branding and Marketing – These two united are the mantra of the success in business. No successful business exists without a branding approach and the marketing campaigns to support that approach. Packaging does not only provide protection, but it also promotes the product with all the company information, product information and name and other details on it.

2.  How to Make Lotion Boxes At Home

While getting wholesale lotion boxes from a good packaging company is a good idea, it definitely costs you more than homemade boxes. Here is how you make decorative and functional lotion boxes at home.

A.  Materials

Get following items for this project:

  • Cardstock with a base color that you like
  • Patterned paper with color that makes a good combination with cardstock
  • Scoring board
  • Scissors
  • Scale
  • Glue and/or double sided adhesive tape
  • Bone folder
  • Colored markers
  • Embellishments

B.  Process

Follow these steps to make your first lotion box.

  • With your scale take measurements of your lotion box or bottle
  • Cut a piece of cardstock which must be half an inch high, wide and deep than your lotion box or bottle
  • Take the measurements from one horizontal end to another and score along the lines dividing the entire length in equal section, except you have to leave a glue tab on the extreme right side
  • Fold along the scored lines and apply glue/adhesive tape to the glue tab
  • Now press the extreme left end on the glue tab on the extreme and this will turn the piece of cardstock into raw shape of a box
  • Now get the scissors and cut one inch along all scored lines; this will give you flaps for the bottom
  • Apply glue to every alternative flap and paste the other one onto it
  • Apply glue to the piece of patterned paper; make sure it should let the original cardstock color be appeared on top and bottom
  • Paste it onto the box and then apply embellishments e.g. tie a ribbon around it
  • With color markets make a greeting stamp out of remaining cardstock and glue it on top of the ribbon

Jon done! Now make many more of these lotion subscription boxes.
